Student Government Association

The purpose of Student Government Association shall be to serve the needs of the Student Body. 

  • The welfare of the Student Body should be their first consideration. 

  • The Student Government Association, acting as representative and on behalf of the Student Body, shall be the official Student Body Representative to other colleges and McPherson College administration and Board of Trustees. 

  • Oversees campus events such as Campus Blow Out, Light & Life, Elections, and Homecoming Royalty selection. 

  • Oversees student organization recognition and allocations processes; provides additional funding to student clubs, organizations, and campus entities.

Light & Life Awards

 

Bridge Builder Award 

The Bridge Builder recognizes a student or group who embraces differences and diversity and works to bridge gaps with different factions of campus.  

 

Bulldog Legacy Award 

This award honors a graduating student whose dedicated and thoughtful contributions have left a lasting impact on both their club and the institution, inspiring future generations of students. 

 

Collaborative Programming Award 

This award will be given to the club(s) or organization(s) who have made the most effort to work together in programming and other activities. 

    1. Eligibility: Clubs can self-nominate with a letter of support from both advisors speaking to their collaborative program. 

 

Excellence in Community Service Award 

This award recognizes a student or group’s earnest willingness to serve others through community service efforts during the academic year.  

 

First Year Student Award 

This award is reserved for a student who is new to McPherson College (freshman or transfer) and has demonstrated exceptional achievements in their first yearThrough their active involvement and leadership potential, they have not only excelled academically but have also made meaningful contributions to our campus community.  

 

Global Ambassador Award 

This award will honor an international student who helps bring people from different cultures together, promotes diversity, and makes campus life better through leadership, service, or advocacy.  

 

Good Neighbor Award 

This award recognizes a person or group who has demonstrated what it means to be a good neighbor, through friendliness, consideration, and respect. Examples are demonstrating excellence when facing ethical dilemmas or difficult decisions; bettering the campus climate; or improving others’ lives through simple acts. 

 

Greatest Leap Award 

This award is reserved for a student or group who has made great leaps in improvement since the prior year. Examples include overcoming academic difficulties; increasing group membership; rising above circumstances; or other underdog success stories.  

 

Outstanding Advisor Award 

This award is reserved for an outstanding student organization advisor who models the College’s mission of developing whole persons through scholarship, participation, and service while mentoring and guiding students to lead the campus and become stronger leaders. 

 

Outstanding Student Group Award 

The Outstanding Student Group recognizes a student organization, sports team, or other established group whose members exhibit scholarship, participation and service; who have made a positive impact on the community; and who have contributed positively to the campus community throughout the year.  

 

PAWsitive Spirit Award 

The PAWsitive Spirit award recognizes a student who embodies vibrant energy and infectious enthusiasm that defines what it means to be a bulldog. Examples are cheering on our teams, being involved in campus activities, having pride for McPherson Bulldogs, and inspiring others to do the same.   

 

Rising Star Award 

The Rising Star award recognizes a new leader of any academic classification who model scholarship, participation and service through a willingness to lead and contributions to the campus community. 

 

Star of the Show Award 

This award recognizes a student or group of students who exemplifies excellence, dedication, and exceptional achievement in their role on stage, on the court, on the field, or any aspect on campus.  

 

Student Employee of the Year Award 

The Student Employee award honors a student whose outstanding dedication, exemplary work ethic, and crucial contributions have significantly enhanced the operations and atmosphere of our institution. 

 

Student Leader of the Year Award 

The Student Leader of the Year is an established student leader who has demonstrated excellence in campus leadership, academics, and achievement through multiple involvement or leadership opportunities or through significant contributions to the campus community. 

 

Unsinkable Spirit  

This award honors a student who exemplifies strength in the face of adversity and maintains an uplifting, optimistic spirit through challenges. Through their resilience and positive attitude, they remind the campus community that setbacks can become steppingstones 

 

Visionary Bulldog Award 

This award honors a student whose creativity, artistic expression, and innovative ideas have enhanced campus life. Whether through visual arts, writing, media, or event innovation, this individual pioneers' new initiatives that captures the spirit of the community and inspires others with their passion and energy. 

 

Wellness Warrior Award 

This award recognizes a student who actively promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being across the college campus. The recipient demonstrates leadership, compassion, and initiative in creating programs, events, or daily interactions that foster a supportive and inclusive community.
